As we reach nearly the end of the fall 2023 session of My Family Kitchen, it is wonderful to witness how the students’ technical skills have grown, as well as their confidence. Today, as we prepared spaghetti and meat sauce and blackberry hand pies, we had this funny exchange:

CHIFFONADE! What’s that????
Me: Stack the basil leaves, roll them tightly then slice them with a knife to the size you need.
Student: Oh! I can do that! We can slice, dice, Chop and chiffonaaade!
Me: Yes, Young chefs, yes you can!
