The students were eager to get started on Week 2’s recipe: Turkey Sloppy Joes. However, we have one student who is a pescatarian. So instead of using ground turkey, we swapped it with plant-based beef crumbles which is often used by vegans.
Lance and Jennifer liked this option as it was cooked with the ingredients from the Sloppy Joe’s recipe.
It was challenging cooking with two different pans and using different measurements for the recipe. Our celery was not chopped but it cooked down just fine. Highlight moment: Students were looking for the Sloppy Joes to be red liked on the can. They were very surprised that it tasted better than the can version.
