This week we prepared Sloppy Joe sliders with quick pickled cucumbers and met student Laura Lin.

After reading the recipe, the chefs began peeling and slicing cucumbers, chopping onions and celery and measuring out the pickle brine and Sloppy Joe sauce.  Meanwhile, if we clean up as we go, there is less to do at the end.  Volunteer Chris Hoyler demonstrates how to cut the slider rolls and everyone gets in on the fun. Once the rolls are sliced, it’s into the oven for 5 minutes … and we’re ready to eat!  Milanni called the meal “Amazing!” and Jayson added “it was perfect to my taste buds.” Chopping the onions, peeling the cucumbers and sauteing the meat were challenging, but Jayson concluded “I would probably try to cook this.”
