Students were challenged with two recipes with multi-step directions—–Curried Chicken with Cauliflower and Apricots and Strawberry Crisp Bars. The class split into two teams, each focusing on one of the recipes. Students showed how their cooking skills and confidence have progressed, particularly in regard to reading and following recipe instructions. They, also, demonstrated their ability to coordinate as a team.
Before class finished, the teachers and students discussed the work needed to prepare for the graduation dinner the next and final class. In addition to a dessert of Strawberry Crisp Bars, it was agreed that the main dish would be Sloppy Joe Sliders with Pickled Cucumbers. Feeding the invited guests would require more cooking, arranging tables and decorations and organizing setup for serving food. Everyone understood that staying focused and coordinating efforts would be very important.
