We had a wonderful start to our cooking program. The students were so excited to be there. After we talked about kitchen safety and cooking etiquette, all the students practiced chopping an onion. Despite a few teary eyes (we needed goggles!), everyone did a great job and had fun. Then everyone took turns washing spinach, chopping (and tasting) Basil, beating eggs and grating cheese. The muffin cups were filled and carefully placed in the oven. We took turns checking the frittatas to see how they were progressing. Finally it was time to eat! Everyone loved the frittatas, and most of the students had seconds. We can’t wait for next week!
“I had fun chopping an onion and sautéing the onion and spinach. I just checked on the muffins and they were really big.” -Tan’niya King
