Community Sponsored Fundraisers

Community Sponsored Fundraisers are organized by a company, organization or individual that wishes to hold a promotion, event, or sale to benefit St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children. Dollars raised through such events help the Foundation to provide programs and services to children and families in North Philadelphia.

Because of the volume of these requests, we cannot personally participate in each event that is proposed but will provide materials about St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children and our initiatives for your event.

St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children encourages third party events (i.e. golf outings, marathons, shows, etc). As an event organizer, we ask that interested individuals provide all the elements needed to complete the event promotion. Before an individual, company or organization may proceed with a special event or promotion to benefit the Foundation, a “Pre-Event Survey” must be completed and reviewed. These rules apply to all event organizers, especially those who wish to use St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children name when promoting the event.  Special permission may be granted for use of the Foundation’s logo.

If you are interested in organizing an event that supports St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children, please contact us at (215) 568-1126 or via e-mail at We thank you for your interest and support.

Seeing is Believing 3!

Presented by Heal the Burn Foundation

Over 3 years ago, Todd and Lisa Kupper’s daughter, Emma, was severely burned on her foot as a result of a cooking accident. The experience turned out to be traumatic not only for her, but the entire family. After several plastic surgeons, hundreds of painful dressing changes, physical therapy and surgery, she is doing great. You wouldn’t even know it happened unless you saw the scar that covers most of her foot. As tough as it was for us, along the way we learned that they were so many other children that had life-altering burns and needed help.

As a result of their experience, Todd and Lisa approached St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children to discuss ways that they can help other pediatric burn patients and families. They have become supporters of the Child Life Fellowship position at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.  The Child Life Fellow is responsible for aiding patients during dressing changes, treatment and in the designated playroom areas as part of distractive therapy.  This interaction with a trusted staff member helps children focus on something other than pain, discomfort and fear.

As part of their mission to educate, support and care for those who have been affected by the physical and emotional trauma caused by burns, Heal the Burn Foundation – in collaboration with St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children – recently completed its burn awareness and prevention videos which may be viewed on their website.

In order to raise awareness of burns and funds for their work, Heal the Burn presented Seeing is Believing 3! on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Mitchell Performing Arts Center in Bryn Athyn, PA.

Annual Community Events – Junior Golf Clubs Cancer

In 2004, Junior Golf Clubs Cancer© (JGCC) was established by a few junior golfers and their families at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill, PA. The teenagers were concerned when a cousin and another child from their club had developed forms of pediatric cancer, and they wanted to try to make a difference. They started by collecting donated golf clubs and selling them on Ebay and to retail golf stores to raise revenue to donate for pediatric cancer research. The golf clubs that could not be resold were donated to the First Tee Program of Montgomery County, benefiting junior golf.

Whitemarsh Valley Country Club and its members fully supported the initiative, allowing JGCC to add on an invitational adult-junior golf tournament in 2007, and many club members and friends joined the effort by playing in or sponsoring the event. Since 2004, JGCC has raised over $90,000 for pediatric cancer research and support of families who are dealing with these diseases, principally through the St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children in Philadelphia.
